Garachico’s most important traditional pilgrimage fills its historic streets with decorated carts, oxen, Canarian clothing, folk groups and popular devotion.
Programme and practical details
The pilgrimage is the main event of Garachico’s patronal festivities. Decorated carts, ox teams, folk groups and participants in traditional Canarian clothing travel from Plaza del Muelle Viejo toward the Ermita de San Roque. The celebration commemorates Saint Roch and the historic end of a seventeenth-century epidemic.
