Kid Vereje is the first feature directed by filmmaker and producer Ana Sánchez-Gijón. The documentary follows the life of Juan Fernando Pérez León, the boxer from Tegueste who became Spanish amateur boxing champion twice, in 1989 and 1990. What begins as the portrait of a sporting legend gradually becomes a more intimate story when members of his family question memories and versions of the past that had seemed fixed for years, revealing the child and family history behind the champion.

TEA screens the film on 18, 19 and 20 September at 19:00. The published running time is 73 minutes, so each screening ends at 20:13. The film is presented in its original Spanish version. The director is scheduled to present the 18 September screening, followed by a discussion with TEA’s Cinema and Video coordinator. Tickets are €4.
