Every 11 September, La Aldea de San Nicolás celebrates one of Gran Canaria’s most distinctive traditions. At 17:00, the traditional signal marks the moment when participants enter El Charco for a collective fishing ritual whose origins are linked to an old Indigenous fishing technique. The celebration is part of the municipality’s patron-saint festivities and El Charco is protected as an ethnological heritage site.
